All prices are GST inclusive

Running out of floor space in your warehouse? Rack-supported floors, also known as raised storage areas, offer a practical solution to maximise storage without expanding your warehouse footprint. These systems create an additional storage level, making efficient use of vertical space while integrating seamlessly into your existing racking setup.

At Shelving Supply Australia (SSA), we offer customisable rack-supported floors tailored to your business or personal needs, providing extra space for inventory, workstations, or even light-duty office areas.

Why Choose a Rack-Supported Floor for Your Warehouse?

Rack-supported floors are an efficient and adaptable solution for optimising warehouse space. Here’s why they’re a preferred choice:

  • Maximise Storage Space: Add an extra level of storage without increasing your warehouse’s footprint.
  • Customisable for Versatile Use: Suitable for storing additional inventory, creating workstations, or allocating space for office setups.
  • Cost-Effective Expansion: Utilise pallet racking to save on costs compared to large-scale mezzanine floor installations.
  • Efficient Vertical Space Utilisation: Make full use of otherwise unused overhead space, improving organisation and accessibility.
  • Tailored Solutions: Completely customisable to your warehouse’s unique layout and operational needs.

Rack-supported floors transform underutilised vertical space into efficient, functional storage or workspace areas, keeping your operations organised and streamlined.

What is a rack-supported floor, and how does it work?

A rack-supported floor, also known as a raised storage area, creates an additional level of storage or workspace above your warehouse floor. By utilising vertical space, this solution effectively doubles your floor space.

How can a rack-supported floor improve my warehouse’s efficiency?

By adding another storage level, a rack-supported floor allows better organisation of inventory and optimised workflows and maximises the use of existing space—all without the need for costly relocations.

What are the benefits of using a rack-supported floor with pallet racking?

Rack-supported floors provide flexibility and efficiency by adding extra storage, packing stations, or office areas while seamlessly integrating with your warehouse layout. A key advantage over structural floors or mezzanines is their cost-effectiveness, providing a more budget-friendly solution without compromising functionality. These systems also help keep your warehouse organised and improve overall productivity.

Are rack-supported floors customisable to fit specific warehouse dimensions?

Yes, rack-supported floors are fully customisable in terms of height, width, and load capacity, making them suitable for various spaces and operational requirements.

What materials are used to construct rack-supported floors?

These systems are typically comprised of steel pallet racking frames and beams, top-hat steel floor supports, and structural timber flooring.

How do I determine the load capacity of a rack-supported floor?

The load capacity depends on the materials, structure, and intended use. Consulting professionals ensure the design meets your specific storage and safety needs.

What safety features should I consider for a rack-supported floor system?

Key safety features include handrails, kickers and clear access points. Regular inspections help maintain safety and compliance.

Can I install a rack-supported floor in an existing warehouse layout?

Yes, rack-supported floors can be designed to integrate into an existing racking system. However, several design and functionality requirements must be determined to confirm if this is a feasible option. If you would like advice on this, please contact our team.

What are the installation requirements for a rack-supported floor?

Installation requires a clear working area, strong structural foundation, adherence to safety standards, and professional assembly to ensure stability and compliance with regulations.

How do I maintain and inspect a rack-supported floor system?

Routine maintenance includes checking for loose bolts and structural wear and ensuring safety features like guardrails and signage are intact. Professional annual inspections can further guarantee safety and efficiency.
