Reliable Protection for Warehouses, Worksites, and Industrial Applications
Steel mesh is a practical solution for improving safety and creating protective barriers across warehouses, workshops, and industrial environments. Commonly used as rear mesh protection in warehouses, steel mesh helps prevent products from falling into pedestrian areas or neighbouring storage bays. Its combination of strength, visibility, and versatility also makes it suitable for a wide range of commercial, industrial, and domestic applications.
At Shelving Supply Australia (SSA), we supply steel mesh sheets designed to withstand demanding environments while maintaining clear sightlines and airflow. Manufactured from 50mm x 50mm x 3mm steel mesh and supplied in a 2200mm x 2900mm sheet size, these steel mesh panels provide a practical solution for warehouse safety, protective barriers, and industrial applications.
Steel mesh is commonly used in warehouses alongside pallet racking and storage systems, but it is equally effective in workshops, manufacturing facilities, and other environments where safety and separation are important considerations.

Applications and Use Cases
Steel mesh is widely used across different industries due to its adaptability and strength.
Rear Mesh Protection
Steel mesh sheets are commonly installed as rear protection on storage systems to improve workplace safety and help contain stored products. They work well alongside longspan shelving and other shelving systems to create safer storage environments.
Machinery Guards
Manufacturing facilities often use steel mesh to create protective barriers around equipment while maintaining visibility for operators and maintenance teams.
Site Fencing and Security Enclosures
Steel mesh provides an effective solution for creating secure boundaries around work areas, equipment, and restricted zones.
Storage and Material Handling Areas
It can assist in separating pedestrian walkways from areas where equipment such as a pallet jack operates regularly.
Is Steel Mesh the Right Solution for Your Setup?
Selecting the right steel mesh depends on how and where it will be used. Key considerations include the required dimensions, the level of protection needed, and whether the installation will be indoors or outdoors.
For warehouse applications, it is important to ensure the mesh is correctly sized to suit your storage configuration. For fencing, machinery guarding, or custom enclosures, understanding the layout, access points, and intended use will help determine the most suitable solution.
If you're unsure which option is right for your setup, our team can assist in recommending the most practical solution for your requirements.
